Several European and non-European countries have expressed their desire to join the coalition to deploy troops in Ukraine.

This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to Ladepeche.

“What we are working on is an open coalition, that is, a Franco-British initiative, but I can confirm that several European and even non-European countries have expressed their desire to join this effort once it is confirmed,” Macron explained.

According to him, the goal is not a mass dispatch of European troops, but “the deployment of several thousand troops from each country in key locations.” This is being done, according to Macron, to strengthen Ukraine's defense.

“We are recording the strategic presence of NATO member countries on Ukrainian territory, and this is a guarantee of security, since the United States and several members refused to accept Ukraine into NATO,” Macron concluded.

Let us recall that earlier today Emmanuel Macron named four main elements of security guarantees for Ukraine:

  • Immediate support for Ukraine;
  • Creation of the Ukrainian army format;
  • Possibility of deploying troops on the basis of a voluntary coalition;
  • Strengthening European defence.

More details about each of them can be found in the RBC-Ukraine article.

Note that yesterday, the national security advisers of Germany, Great Britain and France will visit the United States. They went to Washington for talks with the US President's National Security Adviser Mike Walz.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine also reported that on March 11, the Ukrainian and American delegations discussed the US initiative to cease fire with Russia. Ultimately, Kyiv supported it.

As Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga noted, such a step could begin the path to ending the war.
