LuAZ-969
Every Ukrainian fisherman and hunter should first of all consider this car as a transport option for their hobby. Yes, this all-terrain vehicle is not suitable for the role of an everyday vehicle, but outside normal roads it is unrivaled – even without taking into account its price. LuAZik is in its element where you need to move on difficult roads or without them – abandoned country roads, dirty ruts, forests, mountain roads. A rare for today's all-wheel drive transmission with 4×4 mode disabling, “low gear” and differential lock makes this lightweight machine a full-fledged all-terrain vehicle with unique capabilities. Of the minuses – all copies of this model are more than 20-25 years old, so they have survived more than one major overhaul, and you should not think that it will be reliable transport. But you can be sure that it will be interesting to drive. At the same time, the LuAZ is easy to repair and will most likely never become real estate away from home – an experienced driver will always be able to revive it and get to the garage. The price for copies of “Volynianka” in acceptable condition starts from 1000 dollars.
Mіtѕtіѕһіѕһі L200
A serious car, the complete opposite of the “Volynianka”, which can be used on a daily basis if desired. One of the most affordable pickups in the country may not be very comfortable, but the interior of the double-row cabin can be used as a family car. Of the minuses – after a sedan or family crossover, the L200 will be perceived as too hard on the move. The fundamental drawback of all cars in this class is the lack of a trunk protected from bad weather and unkind people. This issue can be solved by purchasing a removable canopy roof, if possible, but for this you will have to prepare 1.5 – 3 thousand dollars. The car itself in acceptable condition will cost at least 9 – 11 thousand dollars.
Suzuki Jimny
There are two things that can upset an avid fisherman or hunter when considering the candidacy of the “Jimny”: a cartoonish appearance and a very small body. Regarding the first – in fact, any Jimny, regardless of generation, is a specific frame SUV with a serious set of corresponding functions. And regarding the lack of a trunk – yes, you will have to drive two to have room for equipment and trophies after folding the rear seat. On the other hand, the Suzuki Jimny is advantageous in that it was often bought for use strictly in the city. And therefore, you can find a used copy at an affordable price – although not young in years, but without the consequences of use in off-road conditions. Despite its small size, the Jimny is not so cheap: it is difficult to find a car in decent condition for less than 8.5 thousand dollars.
Renault Duster
In many ways, it is a good option, but please note that the Duster in any generation is still a crossover, not an SUV. That is, do not expect miraculous cross-country ability from it in real mud or deep snow. But the advantages are numerous and significant: affordable price, simple and durable design, more or less roomy body, energy-intensive chassis, choice of engines and transmissions. It is important that about half of the Dusters in Ukraine have a single-axle drive, which is not good for lovers of country-style travel. A significant advantage of this model is a large selection on the secondary market. A fresh copy with a large remaining resource can be purchased for 7.6 thousand dollars.
Hyundai Tucson
If we talk about the first generation “Tucson”, it is a crossover without great off-road ambitions, but with good geometric cross-country ability and an affordable price. In addition, there are enough versions with 4×4 drive on sale, which have significantly better off-road data. The body is not cramped, the car has a comfortable ride and a simple and repairable design. The choice of this model on the secondary market is rich. In addition, among the older cars you will come across many examples in good condition, because few people mocked these cars off-road, because they were bought almost exclusively for driving in the city. Hyundai Tucson in acceptable condition costs from 7.3 thousand dollars.

When choosing a car for hunting and fishing, it is important to first of all find out one thing for yourself: will this car serve exclusively your hobby, or will it also serve in the city as a family car. This will affect your requirements for appearance, and in many ways, the choice of the model itself. The nuance here is that among SUVs-crossovers, there are often examples with minor damage to the body, but with reliable, unworn systems and units. And if you do not care about the subtleties of aesthetics, you can save a considerable amount, because due to the high cost of body repairs, sellers of such cars make a big discount when bargaining.
