Yesterday's decree by dictator Vladimir Putin, which threatens Ukrainians with deportation from the temporarily occupied territories and Russian territory, is a violation of international law.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Georgiy Tykhy, during a briefing.

As Tikhiy noted, the decree signed by Putin is a worthless act and another step in the Russian campaign of discrimination, persecution and forced displacement of Ukrainian citizens from their native land.

“Russia continues to violate fundamental norms of international law, with this decree it violates at least three international legal documents. We emphasize that these systemic deportations and persecutions are part of Russia's policy of genocide against the Ukrainian people,” he added.

According to the Foreign Ministry representative, the decree contradicts Russia's statements about its alleged readiness for a peaceful settlement and undermines any initiatives to establish peace. The Kremlin once again demonstrates that its true goal is the destruction of Ukrainian statehood and the persecution of Ukrainian citizens.

Russian ultimatum

Yesterday, March 20, Putin signed a decree according to which Ukrainians who are “illegally in Russia” must “legalize” their status by September 10, or leave the country.

The Russian legal information portal did not explain whether the dictator's decree applies to residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, which Russia considers “its own.”

At the same time, by “regulate the situation,” we are probably talking about obtaining a Russian passport.
