US President Donald Trump has not given Russian dictator Vladimir Putin a deadline to agree on a ceasefire with Ukraine. But he has suggested that such a deadline for the Kremlin leader could come in the future.

RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to NBC News.

This is how the American leader responded to a question from media representatives about a possible time frame in which Putin would have to agree to stop attacks as part of Trump’s attempts to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.

At the same time, the US President expressed confidence that an agreement would be reached.

“There was no deadline. But I think we will have one,” he replied regarding the deadline.

Trump said, “They're trying very hard right now, as you've probably seen both of them, but I think we'll get it done pretty soon.”

The American president also denied the claim that Putin, in a recent telephone conversation with him, rejected Washington's proposal, previously agreed upon with Kiev, for a 30-day ceasefire in the entire theater of military operations between Ukraine and Russia.

Trump said the Russian dictator “hasn't turned anything down.” He added that Russia has “a lot of sanctions, probably more sanctions than anyone.”

Before that, on March 21, at the White House, the US President expressed confidence that Russia's war against Ukraine would inevitably end, despite the fact that Putin had not yet agreed to the ceasefire proposal, partially agreed upon by the US.

“We had some good conversations today, and maybe we can stop the death march as soon as possible,” Trump told reporters.

NBC News notes that it remains unclear what conversations the US president was referring to, but earlier this week he spoke with both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Let us recall that after a conversation with Putin on March 18, Trump stated that the head of the Kremlin allegedly agreed to temporarily suspend attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

At the same time, Putin refused to immediately agree on the proposal for a 30-day ceasefire. Official Kyiv had previously agreed to this American initiative during a meeting of the US and Ukrainian delegations in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia)

In addition, on March 21, Trump expressed hope that there is already a “framework” for an agreement between Ukraine and Russia.
