Mercedes-Benz offers employees a €500,000 severance pay. The payment will be transferred to the employee's account if they agree to voluntarily leave the company.
RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to DPA.
The move should help the German carmaker meet its workforce reduction plan and achieve its savings target. However, not all employees can count on a “golden parachute”.
The amount of the proposed severance pay depends on both the length of service and the position held. For example, a 55-year-old team leader with a monthly salary of 9 thousand euros, who has worked at Mercedes-Benz for 30 years, will be able to count on a maximum of 500 thousand euros. At the same time, a 45-year-old administrator with 20 years of experience and a salary of 7 euros will be offered no more than 300 thousand, and a 30-year-old employee with a salary of 6 thousand euros will be paid 100 thousand.
There are no plans for forced layoffs in Europe. Employees are protected by job security until the end of 2034, so Mercedes-Benz top management can only persuade them to quit voluntarily with generous financial incentives. If they refuse, the company will not force them to quit.
Mercedes-Benz employs around 30,000 people who are not directly involved in production. They are reportedly about to receive severance offers and must respond by July 31 this year.
