Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton wants to create a new road-going Ferrari supercar. The sportsman, who currently drives for the Scuderia Ferrari team, has already come up with an index for his future model – F44.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Motorsport.
If the project sees the light of day, the supercar will join the Italian manufacturer's collection of exclusive cars. According to Hamilton's idea, the Ferrari F44 will become a modern cult version of the F40. The index 44 will be a reference to the onboard number of the seven-time Formula 1 champion's car.
The Briton said that he intends to work on the project for several years. At the same time, no technical details of the future car are known yet. It is expected that the new supercar will be based on the LaFerrari platform, devoid of a hybrid system. If successful, the new F44 will join the Ferrari Icona line, which includes exclusive projects of the company.
Lewis Hamilton is a long-time fan of the Italian brand. The racing driver's collection includes a LaFerrari Aperta and a 599 GTO. In April last year, Lewis Hamilton presented the new generation of Mercedes-AMG GT. At that time, the driver was performing as part of the German factory team.
