Nissan held a major press conference in Tokyo to announce a major update to its model range. The presentation was given by the new head of the company, Ivan Espinosa, although he will formally take up his post only in June.

RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to the company’s press service.

The next global novelty will be the third-generation Nissan Leaf, which will debut in the middle of the year. It will no longer be a hatchback, but a crossover, and will be based on the CMF-EV platform, on which the Nissan Ariya is built. In the new generation, the Leaf will receive a panoramic roof and 19-inch wheels for the first time, and in the US market, it will be the first Nissan with a Tesla NACS charging port.

The premiere of the compact hatchback Nissan Micra of the new generation is planned for the middle of the year. It will be a variation of the electric car Renault 5, but with a different design, developed by the London studio of the company. Its production will be established at the Renault plant in France. Also announced for Europe is the Nissan Qashqai crossover with a hybrid system of the new generation e-Power: it will have a new petrol engine and will be 15% more economical.
