Designer Giorgetto Giugiaro has unveiled a modern take on the 1970s Maserati Boomerang. The mid-engine Peralta S supercar is a one-off, ride-on-chassis Maserati MC20. It features an all-new aluminum body and a completely redesigned interior.
RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to the company’s press service.
After selling Italdesign to Volkswagen, Giorgetto Giugiaro and his son Fabrizio opened the GFG Style studio, whose main activity became industrial and automotive design. The company distinguished itself by its collaboration with Chinese manufacturers and the startup Laffite Automobili.
At the Pastejé Automotive Invitational Concours d'Elegance in Mexico, Giugiaro showed off his first car created for a wealthy client.
The mid-engine Peralta S is a modern version of the Maserati Boomerang, designed by Giugiaro in the early 1970s. According to Italian media, the retro-futuristic supercar is built on the Maserati MC20 chassis and is equipped with a 3.0-liter Nettuno gasoline engine (630 hp, 730 Nm), an eight-speed “robot” and rear-wheel drive.
The body is made entirely of hand-formed aluminum panels, and inside you'll find a thoroughly redesigned interior that combines leather upholstery with varnished carbon fiber inserts. The Peralta S is known to have been designed by Fabrizio Giugiaro, who drew inspiration not only from his father's specific work, but from the entire era of wedge-shaped bodies.
