US Vice President J.D. Vance defends the position that there is an energy truce between Russia and Ukraine. The statement came after attacks on Ukrainian facilities over the past few days.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a statement made by Vance at the American air base “Pituffik” in Greenland.
“We trust but we verify. We make sure that what we see from one side is being implemented by the other side, and vice versa. But I think we've made incredible progress,” he said.
Vance noted that US President Donald Trump “is going to fight every day” and, according to him, the US “continues to make progress.”
“We obviously have a ceasefire on energy infrastructure. We have a ceasefire on trade in the Black Sea that I think is almost achieved,” Vance said.
He added that after the ceasefire in the Black Sea, they will begin to consider further steps towards a ceasefire.
Energy truce
Recall that earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed introducing a ceasefire in the air and at sea as the first steps to resolve the war. After the meeting of the Ukrainian and US teams in Saudi Arabia on March 11, the American side proposed a comprehensive ceasefire. Ukraine agreed to the proposal, but the Russian Federation did not give a final answer.
During the conversation, US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin allegedly agreed to stop attacks on energy. However, Russia continues to strike Ukrainian infrastructure.
As the Ukrainian President's Adviser on Communications Dmytro Litvy reported, Russia has struck at least two blows at Ukraine's energy sector. It is known that Naftogaz facilities were attacked the other day.
