Ukraine and Russia are “close” to a full ceasefire. For such a step, the two countries must agree on the terms.
As reported by RBC-Ukraine, this was stated on Fox Business by the US President's special envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg.
“We want to achieve a comprehensive 30-day ceasefire. Once you achieve that, it will be very difficult to resume the war. That's what I believe,” Kellogg said.
In his opinion, now it is necessary to formulate contractual conditions, that is, documents that will spell out the positions of Ukraine and Russia, and then “bring them together.”
Kellogg said US President Donald Trump is in contact with both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and could broker a deal between the two countries.
“And I do believe that we are on the verge of a ceasefire, but both sides will have to compromise. Neither side will get everything they want. Some things will have to give in order to get to a solution. But President Trump can do that,” he added.
Truce between Ukraine and Russia
Let us recall that, in fact, the only obstacle to achieving a complete ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia for 30 days remains Moscow’s position.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, commenting on such a proposal, began to put forward a number of conditions that concern the supply of weapons to Ukraine, mobilization in Ukraine and more.
In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed to a complete ceasefire without any additional conditions.
The head of the Ukrainian state today, April 2, emphasized that it is possible to achieve Russia's consent to a complete ceasefire through pressure from the United States.
