Renault is developing a special program that will help improve the driving skills of young drivers.
RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to the company’s press service.
In this context, in February, Renault opened the patent to rescuers, allowing all car manufacturers to use their development free of charge to simplify rescue operations in the event of accidents.
Despite efforts by carmakers to reduce the number and severity of accidents, the rate of decline in road fatalities has slowed since 2010. Today, 52% of fatal accidents related to speeding occur among people under 35. In response, Renault is working to raise awareness among young drivers about the dangers of excessive speed.
As part of the campaign, BWT Alpine Formula One driver Pierre Gasly appears in a special video as a mentor, teaching a young driver behind the wheel of a Clio on the Monaco Grand Prix track. He shares tips and experiences on speed management, helping to gain confidence behind the wheel, emphasizing the main message: speed should be on the track, not on the road.
As Clio is one of the most popular models among young drivers, Renault offers a practical solution – a maximum speed limit of 110 km/h. The speed limit is achieved by an after-sales setting of the engine control unit, which sets the limit for the cruise control and speed limiter – no more than 110 km/h by default. This setting is retroactive, and the car can be returned to its original configuration after a return visit to the Renault network.
At the start of the initiative, the service is offered in France at a cost of 59 euros per operation, exclusively for Clio models sold in the country.
