Audi does not release imported cars from the ports in the United States. They assemble cars that arrived in the country after April 2, when US President Donald Trump imposed 25 percent tariffs on all imported cars.
RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to Automotive News.
It is not yet known how long the Audis will remain in the open air. Perhaps the situation will become clearer after the meeting of the carmakers with the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
It is noted that Audi sent a letter to dealers stating that the company is pausing all deliveries from April 2 until further notice. There are currently about 37,000 Audi vehicles in warehouses in the United States. Dealers estimate that this will last about two months if sales continue at the current pace.
Automakers have not yet developed long-term plans in response to the tariffs. For example, Mercedes-Benz, unlike Audi, has decided not to withhold deliveries. Despite its already difficult financial situation, the company will temporarily cover the duties itself, without raising prices for Americans. BMW has made the same decision. Volkswagen and Jaguar Land Rover have suspended shipments of cars, and Stellantis even had to temporarily close two plants in Canada and Mexico.
