Martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine have been extended for another 90 days—from August 7 to November 5. This decision was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada and published on the parliament’s website, reports Baltimore Chronicle, citing the relevant bill. This marks the 16th time since the full-scale Russian invasion, which began on February 24, 2022, that martial law and mobilization have been extended. The law will come into effect upon its publication.

It should be noted that just 10 days ago, on July 15, the Verkhovna Rada approved laws No. 13471 and 13472, which also extended martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine for 90 days. Martial law is a special legal regime introduced in case of armed aggression against the country or the threat of an attack. Its implementation involves the restriction of certain rights and freedoms of citizens, expanding the powers of the military, mobilization, changes in the operation of the media, and a ban on elections, protests, and other mass events. The main goal is to ensure the defense and security of the country.
