U.S. President Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement that constitutional amendments would be needed for a territorial exchange as part of a potential peace agreement. As reported by Baltimore Chronicle, citing Trump’s statement at a briefing, he emphasized that while he has “good relations” with Zelensky, he disagrees with the Ukrainian leader, believing that this war should never have started.

Trump expressed surprise at Zelensky’s statement regarding the constitutional approval required for possible agreements with Russia. “I was a bit surprised that Zelensky said he would need constitutional approval — he got approval to start the war, but for the exchange of territories, it is necessary,” Trump said. He also noted that, in his opinion, a territorial exchange agreement would be beneficial for Ukraine but would result in negative consequences for both sides.
