U.S. President Donald Trump expressed deep disappointment with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the war against Ukraine, despite previously maintaining good relations with him. He also announced a new aid package, though he did not disclose its contents or scale, reports Baltimore Chronicle.

During a phone interview with CNN correspondent Scott Jennings, Trump emphasized that the Russia-Ukraine conflict would never have started if he had remained President of the United States. According to him, thousands of people are dying pointlessly, and he is particularly concerned that the U.S. elections were, in his words, rigged, which he believes affected the course of events.

“I am very disappointed in him. We always had good relations. Thousands of people are dying — not Americans, but Russians and Ukrainians. This is a war that should never have started,” Trump said, adding that the current situation is “a disgrace.”

The politician also stressed that the U.S. intends to help people suffering from the war. He estimated that about seven thousand people die each week, mostly soldiers, and emphasized that he considers it his duty to do everything possible to stop these losses.
