A new designer toy is sweeping through China, capturing the attention of collectors and fans alike. Wakuku, a plush panda figure, made its debut at Miniso Land in Beijing and immediately broke sales records — boosting the store’s revenue by over 90%, reports Baltimore Chronicle.

Following its successful launch, Wakuku was introduced in Miniso’s flagship stores in Shanghai and Nanjing as part of a special “Fox and Rabbit” collaboration. In both cities, the toy again set record sales. During the opening of Miniso Space in Nanjing this June, a new Wakuku figure sold out in just two hours.

Much like its predecessor Labubu, Wakuku is a collectible keychain figure designed to be attached to backpacks. However, the new toy stands out with its concept: while Labubu is portrayed as a forest elf from northern folklore, Wakuku represents a tribal warrior from the jungle.

Another factor driving Wakuku’s popularity is its lower price point compared to Labubu. Consumers have also noted improved quality, adding to its appeal and helping it dominate the market in 2025.

Earlier we wrote about why Labubu toys are trendy and why they’re so expensive.
