The Rehabilitation Gaming System (RGS), which allows patients with brain injuries and disorders to receive personalized neurorehabilitation in a game-based way, is already available in 30 hospitals across the country.
This was reported by the Ministry of Health, Ukrinform reports.
“To date, RGS has already been integrated into more than 30 medical institutions in the country that provide rehabilitation services to patients. Since the beginning of 2024, the system has become available in 6 more establishments in the Kiev region, Dnipropetrovsk region, Zaporozhye, Kharkov region and Vinnytsia region. To date, more than 535 patient rehabilitation plans have already been drawn up using the RGS telemedicine platform, which came to Ukraine as humanitarian aid from the Spanish company Eodyne, the report says.
The Ministry of Health notes that the use of the RGS system is; This is a revolutionary approach in the rehabilitation of patients with stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, injuries and contusions resulting from wounds and explosions during combat operations.
The system offers individual programs adapted to the needs of each patient to restore his cognitive and motor functions in a playful way.
Thus, a patient, using a phone or personal computer with a webcam on which the RGS mobile application is installed, can perform simple but effective exercises. For example, learning to re-construct sentences to restore cognitive function or learning to consciously pick up and transfer objects to restore motor skills after an injury or stroke.
The patient performs given movements in a playful way, and a special application records their dynamics and takes into account errors and displays analytical data.
With RGS, patients can comfortably continue their rehabilitation at home or anywhere. At the same time, the doctor can track progress in rehabilitation and provide feedback by adjusting the treatment plan. This is a scientifically based solution, confirmed by international clinical studies. The platform is used daily in hospitals around the world for the rehabilitation of patients with stroke.
The implementation of the RGS system in medical institutions occurs with the technical support of the USAID project “Sustainable Development of National Health Care Systems in Ukraine.”
< By According to information from the National Health Service, within the framework of the Medical Guarantee Program for packages of rehabilitation services during 2023, more than 300 thousand patients received rehabilitation services.
