“Medical Procurement of Ukraine” delivered to the regions 800 thousand doses of vaccine against diphtheria and tetanus, which were centrally purchased last year by order of the Ministry of Health.

“At the beginning of February, the first batch of more than a million doses of these vaccines arrived in Ukraine. Of these, about 800 thousand or 75% “have already been distributed to medical institutions in all regions, except temporarily occupied territories. 25% of the delivered vaccines will be stored in a warehouse as a reserve stock and can be distributed to the regions if necessary (in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated October 18, 2023),” the statement reads. press release.
It is indicated that this approach to the distribution of vaccines will make it possible to effectively respond to any unforeseen circumstances and quickly deliver the necessary vaccines, if necessary, to a certain region.
As noted in the State Enterprise “Medical Procurement” ; vaccinations against diphtheria and tetanus are mandatory according to the preventive vaccination calendar and are free of charge for patients.
As Ukrinform reported, in February in Ukraine a case of tetanus was recorded in a 13-year-old child who was not vaccinated.
According to the vaccination calendar, tetanus vaccination is carried out at two months (first vaccination), at four months (second vaccination), at six months (third vaccination), at 18 months (fourth vaccination).
Re-vaccination occurs at six years old and at 16 years old. From the age of 26, routine revaccination for adults is mandatory every 10 years.
