At the National Center for Surgery and Transplantology named after A.A. Shalimov, six kidney transplants were performed in 10 days.
The Ministry of Health reports this, Ukrinform reports.
"Only in one hospital in 10 days – 6 kidney transplants, which means 6 chances for a full life. All six are patients of the A. A. Shalimov National Center for Surgery and Transplantology,” the message says.
It is noted that recipients are from different parts of the country, of all ages and with different medical histories and diagnoses.
All operations – related and from a deceased donor – were carried out in mid-February, three patients have already returned home, three more are undergoing rehabilitation in the hospital. Their condition is satisfactory, the Ministry of Health assured.
According to the Ministry of Health, kidney transplant operations in Ukraine are carried out in 21 medical institutions. Last year, 394 kidneys were transplanted, and in two months of this year – already 88. Currently, there are almost one and a half thousand patients on the waiting list for such an operation.
As Ukrinform reported, this year transplantation was included in the Program medical guarantees. SGP-2024 includes the following cost of transplantation services: lungs — about 2.6 million UAH, hearts — more than 2 million UAH, liver – mdash; about 1.5 million UAH, kidneys — about 800 thousand UAH, hematopoietic stem cells — up to 2.5 million UAH.
