The 1000th Ukrainian patient injured as a result of the war unleashed by Russia was brought to Germany for treatment.

“The European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčić, today took part in an event held at Cologne-Bonn Airport, Germany, to mark the arrival of the 1,000th Ukrainian patient transferred to receive medical care in Germany since the start of Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine. The medical evacuation is coordinated and financially supported under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism,” the statement said. As the European Commission recalls, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, the EU has begun a program of medical evacuation from Ukraine of seriously ill or seriously wounded patients from Ukraine during the war to continue their treatment in European medical institutions in European countries. To date, this opportunity has been provided for 3,156 Ukrainian citizens receiving medical care in 22 EU countries.
This large-scale medical evacuation is being coordinated through the European Commission's Emergency Response Coordination Centre. Seriously ill patients from Ukraine are moved to an evacuation center in Rzeszow, Poland, from where they are transported to hospitals across Europe. A month ago, the EU agreed with Norway to cooperate in organizing regular flights from Poland to transport such patients. As reported, medical institutions and doctors from Austria, Belgium, and Croatia are taking part in the treatment of seriously ill Ukrainians. , Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
