Since 2023, 1.6 million e-referrals for rehabilitation have been generated in the electronic health system (ESHS).
The Ministry of Health reports this, Ukrinform reports.
“Due to war, the number of people who are injured and amputated is increasing every day. After their injuries, many of them acquire limited functioning and therefore need rehabilitation to return to normal life. During 2023-2024, 1.6 million e-referrals for rehabilitation services have already been generated,” the message says.
As the Ministry of Health notes, a full-fledged multidisciplinary team of specialists is involved in the patient’s rehabilitation, which includes a physical and rehabilitation medicine doctor, a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, a prosthetist-orthotist, a speech therapist, a psychologist and other specialists.
In order for everyone to they could synchronize their actions and adjust the patient’s rehabilitation plan; the entire rehabilitation process is recorded in the electronic health system.
Through the use of International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) codes, rehabilitation care is recorded using standardized parameters – the only international language of rehabilitation. This allows us to develop a clear, unambiguous and understandable plan both for Ukrainian specialists and for their colleagues abroad if the patient continues rehabilitation in another institution.
Starting in the summer of 2023, more than 2.5 thousand rehabilitation specialists from more than 700 institutions across the country began to actively consider information about rehabilitation interventions in the ESOH.
During this time, more than 2.3 million observations were created in the ESOH using International Classification of Functioning codes.
The Ministry of Health notes that electronic records allow data on a person’s recovery to be securely stored in a single place. This is also convenient because a person does not have to store and carry with him all paper medical documentation. >
