Gilman vs Loyola Blakefield ended with a dramatic 28-20 Greyhounds victory on Saturday. Gilman overturned a 13-7 halftime deficit with 21 unanswered points. The result ended Loyola Blakefield’s unbeaten start and Gilman’s six-game losing streak in the matchup, as Baltimore Chronicle reports.

The final score is confirmed by Loyola Blakefield athletics, which lists a 28-20 loss to Gilman. MaxPreps also recorded Gilman’s victory and Loyola’s first defeat.

Gilman Turns The Game Around After Halftime

Gilman struck first when Bryan Curtis connected with Blake Williams for an early touchdown. Loyola answered immediately through Carlos Spencer and Levi Axe.

Spencer later scored on the ground, giving the Dons a 13-7 advantage. That score remained unchanged through halftime.

The third quarter completely changed the contest. Aiden Johnson finished Gilman’s opening drive with a touchdown run. The Greyhounds moved ahead 14-13.

Moments later, Lance Jackson intercepted Spencer. He returned the ball for another touchdown and stretched Gilman’s lead to 21-13.

Two possessions transformed a close rivalry game into a contest controlled by the Greyhounds.

Turnovers Decide Gilman vs Loyola Blakefield

Both defenses created opportunities throughout the afternoon. Sawyer Peck intercepted Spencer during a fourth-down attempt before halftime.

Loyola responded when Ethan Wheele forced a Gilman fumble. Peter Willis recovered the ball, preserving Loyola’s advantage before the break.

The decisive moments were different after halftime:

  • Lance Jackson produced a pick-six against Spencer.

Loyola managed another touchdown, but the comeback stopped at 28-20. Gilman protected its advantage through the final possessions.
