Dominic Hasek harshly criticized the IOC's decision to allow athletes from countries -aggressors to compete at the Games in Paris.
The famous Czech hockey player, two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominic Hasek once again criticized the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which >admittedRussian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in a neutral status.
According to him, thanks to this, the Russian authorities, led by dictator Vladimir Putin, received an excellent opportunity to promote their propaganda, which carries with it huge negative consequences.
The hockey legend also said that making a decision in favor of athletes from aggressor states cost Russia a colossal amount of money.
“This is the worst possible solution. This is a huge effort by the Russian government, Putin, everyone else, to bring the Russians back. You can't imagine how much it is if you convert it into money. It's tens or hundreds of billions of dollars. This is just an incredible boost for their propaganda.
Allowing Russian athletes to participate in the Olympics is the same as if we sent them a thousand planes and a thousand tanks, and maybe even more,” Hasek said in an interview with Suspilna Kultura.
Olympic The 2024 Games will take place from July 26 to August 11 in Paris.
Russian and Belarusian athletes at the 2024 Olympics will only be able to compete in individual competitions, while teams from aggressor countries will not be allowed. Any national symbols of the Russian Federation and Belarus are also prohibited – anthems, flags, etc.
In addition, Russian and Belarusian athletes who publicly support the war or have contracts with the armies of aggressor states will not be allowed to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games .
It was also previously reported that Russian and Belarusian athletes were not allowed to attend the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics.
