This opinion was expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in 2014-2019, Pavel Klimkin, in an interview with OBOZ.UA.
He says that now the West is not in the same psychological state as, say, a year and a half ago.
“But they understand that a new stage of the war is beginning, that a long breath is needed, sanctions are in effect, although, unfortunately, not in the way they expected,” adds Klinkin.
According to him, the West has begun a strategic discussion.
“But this discussion includes not only us, but many more issues, both the Middle East and China. And it is very important for us to understand our place. I do not rule out that there may be cuts in aid for us, but so far I see no signs that this will be a critical reduction, both in the United States and in the European Union,” he predicts.
At the same time, it is still difficult to make forecasts for the end of the war in 2024.
“We understand by the end of the war the liberation of territories and the elimination of the threat from Russia in the future. Whether we will be able to achieve this next year, no one will tell you, since this is really about forecasts. But we are not making forecasts, we are setting ourselves up to be ready “. to any challenges,” Klimkin emphasized.
Meanwhile, the British general said that Ukraine's situation in terms of military assistance is becoming increasingly precarious. At the same time, the issue of financing assistance to Ukraine from the United States may be resolved before February 2024.
