The Cabinet of Ministers proposes a bill that would increase the excise tax on fuel.
On Friday, March 22, the Cabinet of Ministers proposed a gradual increase in the excise tax on fuel, which will begin in July 2024 and last until 2028.

“The revision of excise taxes is due to the need to bring national legislation closer to the legislation of the European Union, which is important in connection with Ukraine obtaining the status of a candidate country for EU membership,” the message says.
According to the decision, by 2028 the excise tax for gasoline it will be 359 euros per 1000 liters, for diesel fuel – 330 euros per 1000 liters, liquefied gas – 70 euros per 1000 liters.
” The implementation of the provisions of the bill will ensure additional revenues to the state budget in the second half of 2024 from fuel sales operations amounting to UAH 1.6 billion on average per month,” the government explained.
Approximately UAH 1.3 billion of this amount will come from excise tax revenue, and another UAH 292 million from value added tax.
< p>“This is important for supporting the country’s security, because all of its own revenues go to the security and defense sector,” the Ministry of Finance emphasized.
The bill proposed by the government must still be adopted by deputies in the Verkhovna Rada.
