Currently, the average price for imported tomatoes in Ukraine is 20% lower than in the first half of April 2023.
This week in Ukraine there was a decrease in prices for tomatoes. This happened due to a decrease in the rate of sales of Turkish tomatoes and an increase in the supply of this vegetable on the market.
This was reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.
So, on April 12, greenhouse tomatoes produced in Turkey were supplied to sales at 70-80 UAH/kg (1.79-2.04 USD/kg), which is on average 18% cheaper than a week earlier.
According to key market players, prices in this segment have to be reduced by several reasons.
“Yes, the increase in the supply of imported products provokes a downward trend in the greenhouse tomato segment, while the pace of sales has slowed down significantly,” the report says.
Analysts added, that the average price for imported tomatoes in Ukraine is 20% lower than in the first half of April 2023. Most market operators predict that the downward price trend in this segment will prevail on the market next week.
Earlier it became known that in Ukraine some products began to become cheaper. Compared to February, in March of this year average prices for goods in Ukraine decreased by 0.2%.
