According to experts, milk prices will rise before the end of August.
Due to rising tariffs and frequent power outages, prices for milk and dairy products have risen in Ukraine in the summer of 2024. Further growth in the cost of electricity and fuel and lubricants in August will lead to an even greater rise in the price of this group of products.
This was stated by Ivan Svinous, a research fellow at the Department of Agricultural Market and International Integration at the National Scientific Center “Institute of Agrarian Economics”, in a commentary to “24 Kanal”.
“This will negatively affect the level of purchase prices for milk coming from both households and agricultural enterprises, since the cost of used electricity and fuel and lubricants is included in the cost of manufactured products. After all, this is the main factor influencing the level of purchase prices,” the expert explained.
The scientist added that, despite the rise in prices, milk processing plants are seeing a steady demand for premium and extra grade milk.
According to forecasts from the Institute of Agrarian Economics, by the end of August, purchase prices for milk will increase even more:
- extra grade milk will cost 15.2 UAH/kg without VAT (+7.8% per month);
- premium grade milk – 14.9 UAH/kg (+6.4% per month);
- first grade milk – 14.4 UAH/kg (+5.1% per month).
Recall that food prices will rise in Ukraine this fall. Experts predict a jump in consumer prices by 5-10%.
