This is the first tranche of direct US budget support in 2024.
< p>Ukraine received a non-repayable grant in the amount of $3.9 billion from the United States through the World Bank. These funds will be used to finance important budget expenses, such as salaries of teachers, doctors, rescuers and social benefits.
Prime Minister Denis Shmigal announced this.
“This is the first direct tranche budget support from the United States in 2024. In total, Ukraine this year will receive $7.8 billion in direct budget assistance from the United States, which will allow it to confidently pass this financial period,” he said.
He thanked the United States and the World Bank for their support, which helps strengthen the country’s resilience in the face of Russian aggression.
Recall that on April 20, the US House of Representatives passed a bill to help Ukraine for almost $61 billion.
