The next week will be relatively calm on the currency market.
Exchange rate fluctuations are unlikely to cross the boundaries of the new August corridor of 40.7-41.7 UAH per dollar.
Taras Lesovoy, head of the treasury department at Globus Bank, spoke about this in a commentary to RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, the main currency changes will be minor and will not go beyond the usual system of fluctuations.
“As before, the market situation will provide for periodic changes in vectors from ascending to descending and vice versa. However, if you look closely at the exchange rate dynamics, it will become clear that on the interbank market the maximum step of exchange rate changes does not exceed 0.2-0.3 UAH, and on the cash market – 0.5 UAH. That is, the market does not move in leaps either up or down, and all changes are quite sluggish and tendentious,” the expert said.
The banker predicts that during August 12-18, the corridors of acceptable currency changes on the interbank market will be 40.7-41.7 UAH/dollar and 43.5-45.5 UAH/euro. On the cash market – 40.7-42 UAH/dollar and 43.5-46.5 UAH/euro.
The daily exchange rate change step will be:
- up to 0.2-0.3 UAH (interbank), up to 0.3-0.5 UAH (in commercial banks)
- up to 0.5 UAH (in exchange offices)
Depending on the currency, the average difference between the interbank and cash market rates will be 0.3–0.5 UAH. Average weekly deviations will be within 2% of the starting rate of the week.
