There are categories of internally displaced persons who may lose financial support.
Due to the war started by Russia, many Ukrainians were forced to leave for safer regions and become internally displaced persons. They are entitled to benefits from the state.
The Novoye Vremya publication reported on what will change for IDPs in the fall.
In August 2024, the payment of living allowances for a large part of vulnerable IDPs expired. In order to extend support for IDPs who are in the most difficult life circumstances, the government extended these payments for another 6 months – that is, until February 2025.
In September, payments were automatically extended to the most vulnerable categories of displaced persons without additional application. There are also categories of IDPs who must submit a special application for the appointment or extension of payments.
Assistance for citizens living in Ukraine and having the status of internally displaced persons is:
- for persons with disabilities and children – 3,000 UAH
- for other persons – 2,000 UAH
Which IDPs may lose payments in the fall
In order to ensure that families continue to comply with the current regulation (or the procedure for receiving payments), the state, through the social security department, will check within a month whether the financial and property status of these families has changed significantly.
The following may lose payments:
- citizens who are abroad for more than 30 calendar days without justified and documented reasons
- IDPs who purchased an apartment, house or plot of land for more than UAH 100,000 (except for housing received at the expense of the state or local budget)
- purchased a new vehicle, less than 5 years since its production (except for cars that were purchased by volunteers and donated to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine)
- have their own housing with an area of more than 13.65 sq. m per family member in territories where there is no active (possible) military action or is not occupied
- purchased foreign currency for a total of more than UAH 100,000 (except for currency received from charitable organizations or purchased to pay for medical, social, educational services), as well as bank metals
- have funds in a bank deposit account for a total of more than UAH 100,000
The criteria for eligibility for payment have also not changed: they remain the same as they were when reassigning assistance to families who applied in March 2024.
We remind you that the rules for internally displaced persons (IDPs) have changed in Ukraine. In particular, the government has regulated the issue of preventing the eviction of vulnerable categories of IDPs from temporary housing.
