Due to constant demand and supply shortage, sellers have raised prices for the remaining harvest of Ukrainian tomatoes.
This week, prices for fresh tomatoes have increased significantly in Ukraine.
This was reported by the EastFruit project.
“Yes, today tomatoes are going on sale at 80-90 UAH/kg ($ 1.92-2.16/kg), which is on average 13% more expensive than at the end of last week. The formed prices for this product remain the highest rates on the domestic market of Ukraine, at least in the last 7 years,” the project analysts reported.
They note that due to constant demand and supply shortages, sellers have raised prices for the available volumes of products. At the same time, traders have not yet been able to establish tomato imports to meet the needs of Ukrainian consumers.
“It is worth noting that now the price of greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine is already on average 49% higher than at the end of November 2023,” the experts noted.
Analysts predict that the volume of Turkish vegetables, including tomatoes, will soon increase on the Ukrainian market, which will make up the overwhelming majority of offers until the start of the next agricultural season in Ukraine.
Recall that food prices in Ukraine continue to rise steadily. But according to Oleg Pendzin's forecast, December promises a short break in price growth – at least for the first two weeks.
