Mobile operators are raising prices for their services due to rising electricity costs.
In Ukraine, two mobile operators, lifecell and Vodafone, plan to raise tariffs starting next month. lifecell is going to raise the cost of its tariffs, and Vodafone will increase the prepayment for a number of tariffs.
This was reported by mobile operators.
“Unfortunately, there will be a forced change in prices for existing subscribers. It will take place in February,” said DVL CEO Mykhailo Shelemba.
He said that the main reason for the increase in tariffs is the rise in the cost of electricity, which has affected all mobile operators. Lifecell has allocated UAH 2.3 billion for electricity costs, but thanks to cost optimization, these increases will be half as much as required by economic conditions. The last time the price was raised was a year and a half ago and only for 15% of subscribers.
At the same time, Vodafone reported that from January 30, prepayment for a number of tariffs, such as SuperNet Start and Light+, will be increased by UAH 40-70. In addition, along with the increase in tariffs, some of them will have new services.
Recall that at the end of 2023, Turkish company Turkcell announced the sale of the Ukrainian mobile operator Lifecell to the French investment company NJJ Capital, owned by billionaire Xavier Niel. It was noted that the sale agreement was signed on December 29, 2023.
