The Verkhovna Rada is preparing to rewrite the rules for Ukrainians' credit histories: what to expect

The adoption of the document will help strengthen the protection of borrowers' rights.

The rules for credit history may be rewritten in Ukraine. The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy recommended adopting the relevant bill No. 12260 as a basis.

This was reported by the head of the committee Danylo Getmantsev (Servant of the People).

“The committee recommended adopting bill No. 12260 on credit history as a basis. The bill proposes to establish legal, financial and organizational foundations for maintaining credit histories,” he wrote.

The head of the same committee, Olga Vasilevskaya-Smaglyuk, who also authored the document, claims that the adoption of the document will help strengthen the protection of borrowers' rights. In addition, the bill should solve the problem of fraud in the provision of loans.

Recall that the National Bank proposes to provide borrowers with the opportunity to report their unwillingness to enter into credit agreements. It is proposed to include such data in the credit report at the request of the borrower who wants to protect himself from fraudsters.

The National Bank also proposes to save the credit history for 10 years, after which all data will be destroyed. At the same time, during the specified period, the credit history bureau will be obliged to correct false data and ensure reliable protection of information.
