Ukrainian pharmacy retailers have united in order to reduce the prices of medicines.
In Ukraine, the largest pharmacy retailers signed a declaration on the availability of drugs, which aims to reduce their cost at all stages – from the manufacturer to the consumer. Pharmacies call for manufacturers and distributors to join the initiative and reduce prices.
This was reported by the Pharmacy Professional Association of Ukraine.
“For its part, the APAU GS sent a declaration of interaction to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine to reduce the cost of drugs, signed by participants in the association on 10.02.2025, which the latter propose to reduce the cost of medicines, namely, to apply a discount proportionate to the manufacturer to their margin, while leave the manufacturer the ability to determine the size of such a discount on products, ”the report said.
The purpose of the signed declaration is to ensure the availability of drugs for Ukrainians through a reduction in their value at all stages.
The main provisions signed declaration
- National manufacturers will reduce selling prices for drugs sold in Ukraine compared to prices as of January 1, 2025.
- Distributors will reduce wholesale prices using the manufacturer’s marginal discount.
- pharmacies are obligated to reduce retail prices, proportionally reducing their margins supplied at a discount. Reduce the cost of domestic drugs for consumers, prevent a hidden increase in prices and ensure uniform distribution of drugs in Ukraine. In case of violation of obligations, participants can contact associations and regulators. The declaration enters into force on March 1, 2025.
Representatives of pharmacies “Pharmacy 9-1-1”, “Bazhamo healthy”, “Anti pharmacy”, “Pharmacy of good day” And the “Plantain Plant” supported the president’s call to reduce the prices of medicines. The declaration is open to join all the pharmaceutical participants who support transparent pricing.
