The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, together with the United Nations Organization for Industrial Development (UNIDO), and with support from Switzerland, launched another phase of the Economic Industrial Parks Program (GEIPP-II) with budget of approximately 3 million Swiss francs.
The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine reports this, Ukrinform reports.
“This is not just a continuation of innovation, but a systemic transformation of Ukrainian industrial parks up to EU standards. These industrial parks are the foundation of a green and competitive industry in Ukraine, and we thank our international partners for their direct strategic support,” said the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko.
It is stated that the GEIPP-II program transfers the integration of the principles of economic industrial development into government policy and legislation, technical support of industrial parks for interoperability with international standards, the promotion of energy-efficient technologies and the development of a circular economy.
During the five years of the first phase, which was implemented in 2019-2024, an energy audit was carried out and industrial parks were modernized, legislative changes were requested and a national standard for of these industrial parks, the praise of which will be seen in the year 2025.
The next stage of the program will allow expanding the practice of eco-industrial development throughout the country, attracting investors, speeding up production and strengthening the competitiveness of Ukrainian production.
As reported, the “GEIPP Ukraine” project is part of the Global Program for Eco-Industrial Parks (EIP), which is being implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in seven countries for financial support for Switzerland through the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The main beneficiary of the project is the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. The project started in 2020 and will run until the end of 2024.
