According to Malyuska, Ukraine needs “hundreds of billions” euros to win the war.
Annual package of 3 billion euros raised from profits from frozen Russian assets, “almost nothing” in the context of Ukraine's war needs
This was stated by Minister of Justice Denis Malyuska in a comment to the American publication Politico.
“If we are talking about the needs of Ukraine and the needs of war, military and non-military, then 3 billion euros is really almost nothing. We need hundreds of billions, to win the war,” the minister said.
At the same time, Malyuska clarified that this is “a good first step.”
From the moment Moscow began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the EU blocked more than 200 billion euros of Russian state assets.
“The Ukrainian government would really like to see a complete confiscation [of Russian assets] and really believe that this is legal, and this is the only approach that will decisive in the issue of resolving the war [with Russia],” added the Minister of Justice.
Recall that the permanent representatives of the EU voted on May 8 to use the proceeds from frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.
