Video The Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft law “On amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and other legislative acts to improve the work of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine.”
Prime Minister Denis Shmihal announced this at a government meeting, Ukrinform reports.
“The government, for its part, is generating changes that will make Ukraine strong, modern, and effective. In particular, today we are making a number of important decisions. First. The government proposes to reboot the work of the Bureau of Economic Security,” he informed.

Shmigal stressed that the Cabinet of Ministers has adopted and is submitting the corresponding bill to the Verkhovna Rada.
“We propose that only the BEB and NABU can raise the issue of conducting inspections of the financial and economic activities of a business, regardless of its form of ownership,” the head of government emphasized.
According to him, it is proposed to exclude the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine from the list of state financial control bodies.
At the same time, the document proposes a new procedure for electing the director of the BEB, “we involve our international partners in this process.”
“These changes are aimed at strengthening the rule of law and improving the investment climate in our state,” the Prime Minister concluded.
As Ukrinform reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the issue of pressure on business from law enforcement agencies will be resolved when the corresponding bill is adopted, namely on the restart of the Bureau of Economic Security.
