The share of non-performing loans in the banking system decreased to 37%

The share of non-performing loans (NPL) in the banking sector as of December 1, 2023 was 37%, which is 0.7 percentage points lower than the figure as of November 1. This was reported by the NBU press service.

The regulator noted that the volume of non-performing loans over the month decreased by UAH 2.1 billion, and the volume of loans provided by banks increased by UAH 16.4 billion.< /p>

The NBU recalled that the preliminary results of the assessment of the stability of the National Bank indicate an adequate assessment of credit risk by the majority of banks.

Before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the share of non-performing loans (NPL) in Ukrainian banks began to decline from 2018 (from 55% to 27% as of March 1, 2022), and the volume of loans in banks grew.
