Lifecell parent company sells Ukrainian business to French billionaire

The Turkish telecommunications company Turkcell has decided to sell the Ukrainian mobile operator lifecell to the French NJJ Capital. This is stated in a message on the Turkish public disclosure platform dated December 29, Forbes reports.

In addition to the mobile operator, Turkcell also sells a network of call centers (Global Bilgi LLC) and a mobile tower operator LLC ” Ukrtauer.”

The reasons and amount of the transaction are not disclosed. It also says that the transfer of assets has not yet been completed.

“Information about the agreement will be communicated to the public in full and in a timely manner,” the company said in a statement.

The nominal value of the shares sold is UAH 12.7 billion ($333.4 million) for lifecell, UAH 47.2 million for Global Bilgi LLC and UAH 1.96 billion for Ukrtauer LLC.

NJJ Capital

The French investment company NJJ Capital is owned by billionaire Xavier Niel. Niel is the founder and majority shareholder of the third largest mobile operator in France, Iliad (operating under the Free brand).

He is also a co-owner of the newspaper Le Monde, owner of the largest telecom provider in Monaco – Monaco Telecom, a Swiss telecom provider Salt Mobile and the Irish telecom company Eir.
