“ This is a historic opportunity to make a terrorist state pay for its terror . The Russian elites and leadership are indifferent to human lives, but most of all they are not indifferent to money. Losing assets will be painful for them. They will feel the real strength of the international community and see that peace is stronger than terror,” Zelensky wrote.
He noted that the decision to use frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine would be a completely fair and legal response to Russian aggression against Ukraine .
“This will be the right signal to all potential aggressors in the world: an attack on another state does not bring dividends, the aggressor is forced to pay in the end,” the president added.
According to him, “tangible progress” on this issue must be achieved this year.
Frozen Russian assets abroad amount to about $300 billion.
