Musk, considered the richest person in the world according to Forbes, said in a post on media platform X that he would like to gain about 25% voting control of Tesla.
He added that the move, which would nearly double his current stake in the company, would allow him to be influential, but not so much that it cannot be cancelled. Musk has noted that if his stake does not increase, he will prefer to create products outside of Tesla.
The technology mogul has long supported Tesla's development of fully self-learning software and prototypes of humanoid robots, although the majority of the company's revenue still comes from for automotive operations.
Musk currently owns about 13% of the company after he sold part of his stake in 2022 to help finance the takeover of Twitter, which was later renamed X.
