Banks of Ukraine in 2023 issued 6,114 mortgage loans for a total amount of UAH 9.1 billion. This is evidenced by data from a monthly survey of banks on mortgage loans, reports the NBU press service.

The volume of mortgage loans provided to the population in 2023 compared to the previous increased almost fivefold this year, and the number of transactions tripled.
8 banks that provided loans for the purchase of housing were informed about the issuance of new mortgages in December. Most transactions were still concluded on the secondary real estate market. At the same time, the number of transactions in the primary market increased slightly.
The movement of the mortgage segment remains preferential lending within the framework of the Oselya program (almost all loans during the year were provided within the framework of the program).
The weighted average effective rate on mortgage loans in December remained at the level of November – 7.6%, at the same time a year ago in December 2022 – 8.3%.
Regionally, the largest number of mortgage loans is in 2023 issued in: Kiev and the Kiev region – 2,664 contracts for a total amount of UAH 4.5 billion (50% of the total volume), Lviv region (314 contracts for UAH 518 million), Rivne region (344 by 461 million UAH), Vinnytsia region (304 by 455 million UAH).
Survey
During the survey in January 2024, 35 banks provided answers with a share of 97.8% of the total gross mortgage portfolio at the end of 2021.
