In January 2024, 32% of Ukrainians assessed the level of well-being of their own family as bad, 52% as neither bad nor good, 12.5% as good. This is stated in the Razumkov Center survey data.

The level of well-being of Ukrainians
Compared to the data before the start of the war, the self-esteem of citizens has not changed significantly.
At the same time, 11% say that they barely make ends meet, there is not enough money even for necessary products (before the war – 9%).
The share of those who answer that they have enough money only for food and the purchase of necessary inexpensive things is 38%.
Another 40% said that in general they have enough for life, but the purchase of durable items, such as furniture, refrigerator, TV, already causes difficulties.
In addition, they said “we live well, but we are not yet able to make some purchases (buy an apartment, a car, etc.)” another 8%.
0.7% of respondents said “we can afford to buy almost everything we want.”
Answering the question: “How has your family’s income changed after February 24, 2022?”, 25% of respondents say that they have decreased significantly, 33% have decreased slightly, 32% have not changed, only 4% have increased slightly , and only 0.7% – they increased significantly.
Compared to August 2023, the share of respondents who call permanent work the main source of livelihood has increased (from 41% to 48%) and the share of those who name temporary work (from 9% to 5%) and financial assistance from various sources (from 5% to 2%).
Survey methodology
The survey was conducted by the Razumkov Center with January 19 to 25, 2024, among 2,000 respondents in territory controlled by the government of Ukraine.
The survey was conducted as part of the “Get Joined!” Community Engagement Program, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Pact in Ukraine. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.
