The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Arvid Türkner as its new Managing Director for Ukraine and Moldova. This was reported by the EBRD press service.

Türkner will replace Matteo Patrone, who, after five years in this position, moves to the position of EBRD Vice President for Banking.
“This The appointment reflects the importance that the EBRD attaches to its relationship with Ukraine, which has lasted for more than three decades and has only intensified since the outbreak of all-out war,” said the bank’s First Vice President Jürgen Rigterink.
Arvid Türkner, who is the EBRD’s Managing Director in Turkey, will begin his new position on May 1, 2024. He will oversee the development of the EBRD's program for Ukraine, which focuses on supporting:
- energy security, critical infrastructure, food security, trade, the private sector.

German citizen Türkner joined the EBRD in January 2009 from the German development bank DEG as a senior banker in the financial institutions group in Moscow.
In In October 2013, he received the position of Director of Regional Development and Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Office of the EBRD, and in April 2015 he already headed the office.
After moving to London in early 2017 as Director of the Corporate Debt Department, he was promoted in November 2017 for the position of Managing Director of the EBRD in Turkey.
