The increase in value added tax (VAT) has its consequences, which will negatively affect all citizens, especially vulnerable categories. This is stated in a statement by the Ministry of Finance.

Officials explain why the proposed measures to finance additional needs of the security and defense sector by UAH 500 billion do not include an increase in VAT.
The ministry believes that an increase in VAT will automatically lead to an increase in prices for essential goods, in particular, medicines and basic food products: bread, milk, butter, etc. d.
“On the one hand, this is an easy-to-administer tool that allows for obtaining additional resources,” the ministry notes.
