According to the minister, during a meeting with the German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jaeger and the heads of a number of investment companies involved in the construction of waste processing infrastructure in the EU countries, Turkey and Egypt, he heard from them a real willingness to invest in the development of waste processing infrastructure in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
“The cluster will consist of 5 plants that will collectively process more than 470 thousand tons of waste per year. The cost of the project is more than 155 million euros. There is real readiness and interest of the communities, so the project is moving forward,” Strelets said.
He also noted that investors already come with an understanding of how it should work in a particular region and offer specific solutions.
Strelets called on all other regions to also join the development of the waste management system in Ukraine.
“I am sure that Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, Odessa, Kyiv and Zakarpattia will become good examples for other regions and they will also follow this path. Ukraine will finally receive more than 200 new modern European-style factories,” the minister noted.
