Al Etihad Payments, a subsidiary of the UAE Central Bank, has announced that its financial infrastructure is ready to activate Jaywan, the UAE's national payment system, locally and internationally. Jaywan will be the first domestic card system.

What is known
“Jaywan will be available in multiple variants such as debit, prepaid and credit cards (basic and premium) and can be used across all payment channels such as online transactions, ATM and point of sale (POS) withdrawals,” the release said.
Al Etihad Payments has signed partnership agreements with international payment networks including Discover, Mastercard, Visa and UnionPay to enable customers in the UAE to use Jaywan cards and expand their applicability globally.
In addition, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with Samsung Gulf Electronics to enable the use of Jaywan cards in the Samsung Wallet.
The company next plans to integrate Jaywan into Google Pay and Apple Pay, as well as enter into bilateral agreements with India by mid-2025 and other countries to expand Jaywan's use outside the UAE.
