Reason for growth
The acceleration of inflation is due to temporary factors—the summer-autumn drought—and structural reasons—the rise in production costs.
Last year's crop failure affected prices not only directly, as in the case of vegetables, but also indirectly – due to the rise in prices of raw materials in the food industry and feed for livestock.
How prices have changed
In February, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages on the consumer market increased by 1.2%. The biggest price increases were for eggs (+3.5%) and sunflower oil (+3.4%).
Prices for pasta, fruits, butter, grain products, fish, soft drinks, milk, vegetables, bread, meat and meat products increased by 0.6-1.9%, while sugar fell by 0.4%.
