The trend of rising prices for food products continues in Ukraine. The main reasons for fluctuations in food prices are changes in supply and demand, as well as seasonal factors affecting the market. This is stated in the monthly monitoring of food prices by the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business (UCAB).

The largest price increase was recorded in the vegetable category. The leader among the price increases was tomatoes (+39% per month), which is due to low volumes of domestic production and predominant imports from Turkey, which has decreased somewhat recently.
Carrots also became significantly more expensive, adding 30% in retail price over the month. Their cost increased due to the high level of import dependence and seasonal shortage of domestic products.
Chicken meat should be considered among the goods that have noticeably increased in price in March. Chicken carcasses have increased by 10%, fillets by 7%, and thighs by 5%. This increase in price is due to consistently high feed costs, the cost of which should gradually stabilize. At the same time, pork has demonstrated moderate growth (1-2%), and beef has increased by 4%.
Eggs are also showing price growth, having increased in price by 10% in a month, reaching an average price of UAH 73.1 per dozen, almost equal to the price in 2023 for the same period. The main influencing factors are the cost of feed and weather conditions.
Dairy products continue to rise in price, but the growth rate has slowed somewhat. The prices for milk increased the most (+11%), Dutch cheese (+7%), and cream (+5%). The main reasons for the price increase were: the seasonal factor, supported by fluctuations in temperature and climate conditions. However, the increase in milk yields should change the price situation on the market with the onset of warm weather (approximately by the end of April).
Grocery prices remain relatively stable, with the exception of sunflower oil. Oil has risen by 4% in a month, driven by rising prices for sunflower seeds.
What has become cheaper
It is noted that the only product that has noticeably fallen in price was wheat flour, which has lost 16% in value over the month. This can be explained by pre-holiday promotions in supermarkets and marketing strategies of chains to increase sales volumes on the eve of the Easter holidays.
