In Ukraine, the cost of borscht in March of this year is 177 UAH, which is 19% more than last year and 9% more than in February. This is evidenced by the calculations of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business.

How the price of borscht has changed
As an example for calculations, we took a recipe for making borscht, where for three liters of water you will need 300 g of cabbage, 200 g of beets, 300 g of potatoes, 150 g of carrots, 100 g of onions, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, 30 ml of oil, 500 g of pork ribs, as well as salt, pepper and bay leaf to taste.
Among these products:
- Over the year, cabbage has increased in price by 71%, over the month it has fallen by 1%, over the year, beets have increased in price by 51%, and over the month by 13%, potatoes have increased in price by 26% over the year, but over the month they have fallen by 2%, carrots have increased in price by 271% over the year, and over the month by 9.8%, onions have decreased in price by 1% over the year, and over the month they have increased in price by 5%, tomato paste has increased in price by 14% over the year, and over the month by 6%, butter has increased in price by 38% over the year, and over the month by 4%, pork ribs have increased in price by 7% over the year, and over the month the price has increased by 10%.
“If you add two slices of bread (50 g), a tablespoon of sour cream (25 g) and a clove of garlic (5 g) to the borscht, its price will increase to 185 UAH compared to 170 UAH last month,” the Ukrainian Agricultural Association calculated.
